When you work with a photographer most people have a lot of questions. Below is a time line and some portrait tips. With this you will know exactly what to expect throughout your entire experience with TJ Towers Photography. We want take some of the mystery out of the experience and make sure you are comfortable and relaxed on the day of your session.
Schedule Your Portrait Session Date
Take a look at your calendar tell us your top three dates for your Portrait Session. We will also discuss the Consultation Date. The Consultation is the time to share your ideas on what you want from your portraits. Let us know what type of session you're interested, is this for the whole family, a high school senior, a teen or toddler or maybe your fur baby. Matter of fact fill out this form and it should cover all the bases. If you are choosing a high school senior session you will want to use Josie, our fashion stylist and our hair and makeup artist's but you can add them on to any type of session. Session, stylist and hair and makeup artist fees are due at the time your session is scheduled.
Getting to Know You Consultation
This next step is a 1 - 2 hour planning consultation with T.J., your photographer, and Josie, our Fashion Stylist, (if added) at your home. This is where you tell us your ideas, where you want your session and how you want it to look (tear sheets from magazines of images you like are helpful at this point). Our Fashion Stylist will go through your clothes and accessories and choose your outfits for your session. If you want to choose your own clothing options here are some suggestions on What to Wear.
Day of Your Portrait Session
This is going to be a fun day! To ensure a relaxed photo shoot, you will want to arrive at the agreed upon location 15 minutes early. Make-up and hair (if added) take about an hour at my home studio office. The session itself will last 1 - 5 hours depending on the number of locations and travel time we discussed during the consultation, I'll give you a more realistic time frame at the consultation.
Finding the Perfect Portraits (or editing)
An average of 40 hours is invested into each portrait session I photograph including edits, consult, photo shoot, etc. I spend, on average, 15 - 20 minutes editing each image that makes the final cut. I shoot anywhere from 300 - 600 images for a High School Senior session and edit them down to an average of 75 -100 images that will be presented to you. It takes up to 4 weeks to completely edit your session and present a fully edited, completed product to you.
This is when you get to view the entire edited session along with your video slide-show for high school senior portraits. Here, is when you will decide on your investment by choosing your Portrait Collection and the images that go with your collection (full payment is required at this time unless other arrangements are agreed upon).
Portrait Art in Your Home
Portrait delivery can take from 4 - 6 weeks depending on the products ordered. You can pick up from the home studio office or we will deliver locally to your home or office.
